Terms of Service
Effective May 24, 2026. Questions? [email protected]
Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of webref (https://webref.ai), an agent-oriented web research service operated by Plain Labs LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.
The service
webref searches and reads public web sources, then returns synthesized, source-traced research for use in coding agents and developer workflows. Features, credit limits, and research depth depend on your active plan.
webref is a research synthesis tool. It reads public web sources temporarily to produce cited answers in your workflow. It is not a media downloader, stream ripper, or file-export service.
webref is a research tool, not professional advice. You are responsible for verifying important information before relying on it.
Accounts
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, including API key use. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid access requires an active Hobby, Pro, or custom Scale subscription unless otherwise agreed in writing. Prices are shown on our pricing page. There is no standing free credit allowance for new accounts.
Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Payments, invoices, tax collection, and payment method updates are handled by Creem, our merchant of record. You can cancel or update your subscription anytime from the billing dashboard via the Creem customer portal.
Subscription credits reset on each paid billing cycle. Extra credits are sold in 1,000-credit units, never expire, and require an active subscription to spend.
If a subscription becomes past due, paused, expired, or disputed, research access may be frozen until billing is resolved.
Refunds
Consumed research has real underlying cost. We do not promise automatic refunds for used credits or completed research. Billing issues, duplicate charges, or account problems should be sent to [email protected]. We review requests case by case.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use webref for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
- Attempt to bypass billing, credit limits, or access controls on webref
- Use webref to download, rip, record, or redistribute third-party media or files (video, audio, streams, or similar)
- Use webref to circumvent paywalls, DRM, login walls, or other access controls on third-party sites
- Use webref in a way that violates applicable law or a third party's terms
- Abuse, reverse engineer, or overload the webref service itself without permission
- Resell or redistribute the service except through an approved Scale arrangement
- Submit content that infringes others' rights or violates applicable law
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create billing, fraud, or security risk.
Intellectual property
webref and its branding, software, and documentation remain our property. You retain ownership of your inputs. Research outputs are provided for your use subject to these terms and the rights of underlying sources on the public web.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that research outputs are complete, current, or accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plain Labs LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid to webref in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be posted on this page.
